Artist Statement

Carlota Perla’s collected works of art combine drawing, painting, prints, sculpture and video to powerful and unpredictable expressions. Her images contain references to old masters as well as to modern design.

All the different elements of her images create a cacophony of patterns, icons and symbols.

The oval shape of her latest production is a reference to the traditionally female miniature painting. Iconography from art history, conceptions of women, their role in life and in art and general ideas about life and death all play an important role in Perla’s dreamscapes, like soap bubbles full of rose scented bird twitter.

Perla lives and works in Barcelona and has exhibited her work throughout Europe.
